He flew a staggering 442 combat missions and managed to noch up 258 aerial victories, mostly achieved on the eastern front,
Although 3 of his victories was whilst flying one of the first jet fighters, the Messerschmitt ME262 during the defence of the Reich,
He was born 7 December 1920 Gmünd Austria and died 8 November 1944 Epc Germany, he was killed in a crash,
following combat with USAAF fighters, it is presumed he had engine failure, he was awarded the knights cross of the iron cross with oak leaves swords & diamonds
